Car Wreckers Dandenong
Wreckers Dandenong is a car wrecking and vehicle removal service based in Dandenong VIC 3175, about 29 km south-east of the Melbourne CBD. We buy and collect cars, utes, vans, 4WDs and light trucks that have reached the end of their road life, whether they are accident damaged, mechanically failed, rusted, unregistered or simply no longer worth repairing.
Every vehicle we collect is assessed for reusable parts, depolluted and then sent for scrap metal recycling, so very little of it ends up in landfill. That approach lets us put a fair value on cars that a private buyer or trade-in would not touch.

Our Services
Wreckers Dandenong helps you move on quickly with wreck removal, towing, parts supply, and scrap recycling.
How It Works
A straightforward four-step process, built around the paperwork Victorian law asks of vehicle buyers and sellers.
01
Tell us the make, model, year, condition and where the vehicle is parked. Photos help us give a more accurate figure.
02
We look at the vehicle’s weight, parts value and condition and give you a price before anything is booked.
03
We collect the vehicle from your home, workplace or roadside location. Victorian dealers must record the seller’s photo ID and the VIN, so please have your licence ready.
04
Payment is made by bank transfer (EFT), as Victorian scrap metal laws require, and you receive a receipt you can use with VicRoads.

Your Quote
No two vehicles are worth the same to a wrecker. These are the factors that move a quote up or down.
The steel, aluminium and copper in a vehicle set its base value, which follows the scrap metal market.
Popular makes and models have parts people are searching for, so their engines, gearboxes and panels add value.
A vehicle that starts, drives or has a sound engine is usually worth more than one with major mechanical failure.
Missing components such as the catalytic converter, engine, gearbox or alloy wheels reduce what a wrecker can recover.
Where the vehicle is parked and how easily a tilt-tray can reach it affects the pickup work involved.
Heavy structural damage limits the parts that can be reused, but a damaged car still has value as scrap metal.
Victorian Rules
A few simple steps protect you from fines, tolls and registration charges after your vehicle is gone.
VicRoads asks sellers to complete a notice of disposal with the buyer’s details within 14 days, which you can do online through myVicRoads. VicRoads: selling a vehicle
If the car is still registered you can cancel it and get a refund for the unused time. VicRoads accepts a wrecker’s receipt as evidence and deducts a processing fee and part of the TAC charge. VicRoads: cancel registration
VicRoads no longer requires plates to be handed back. If you are cancelling registration, a photo of the destroyed plates or the wrecker’s receipt is used as evidence. Keep custom plates you want to transfer.
A vehicle with money owing may have a security interest registered against it. A $2 PPSR search shows whether a car is recorded as debt-free, stolen or written off. PPSR car check
Since 30 May 2018 it has been illegal in Victoria to pay or receive cash for scrap metal, including vehicles sold as scrap. Dealers pay by EFT or non-transferable cheque. Consumer Affairs Victoria: scrap metal laws
After Pickup
Once a vehicle arrives at the yard it is checked for parts that can be tested and reused, such as engines, gearboxes, alternators, starter motors, lights, mirrors and wheels. Those parts go back into service as used auto parts, which keeps repair costs down for other drivers.
The vehicle is then depolluted following the practices set out in EPA Victoria’s auto recyclers guideline: oils, coolant and fuel are drained into bunded storage, batteries are sent for recycling, air-conditioning refrigerant is recovered by licensed technicians rather than released, and tyres go to tyre recyclers. The remaining metal shell is processed as scrap metal and returned to the steel supply chain.
